J NEW ZEALAND FORECAST. f (By Telegraph — Press Auociation.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev D. C. Bates, of tlie Me + w>roiogical Office, this evening issued ' the following:— An intense area of low pressure in the south has caused an increase in the wind force; Westerly gales are reported at many stations this afternoon. The weather has been very changeable with scattered' showers, but some heavy rain has fallen today, especially in the south and on the West 'Coast. Present indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale, and veering to southerly soon, with, the barometer rising and the winds probably decreasing in force to-mor-row, with diminishing barometric grnI dient. Tho weather is likely to be [ boisterous with heavy rain and show- ., er« in most pa.rts t and rivers rising in * the South Island. Snow is probable {on the higher levels m the south, and ] cooler conditions following.
