WHALE FISHING
VESSELS RETURNING TO NORWAY. (Received Last Night, 9.45 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, December 18. The steam whaler Hobart lias arrived from New Zealand, en route to Norway.
Although the depot ship in New Zealand has 1500 barrels of oil on board, the undertaking has not paid, owing to the expenses being exceptionally heavy. Most of the other Norwegian vessels are also returning, because there are not siiffieient whales to keep them going. Some of the ships intend trying the Antarctic waters.
