JAPANESE APPLES
/- -~ FIRST SHIPMENT TO SYDNEY. (Received Last Night, 9.45 o'clock.) SYDNEY, December 18. The steamer Hikko Maru brought the first shipment of Japanese apples, consisting of 150 cases. It is expected that Japanese fruit will prove a formidable competitor to Californian varieties. The vessel also brought 50 easas of good sized oranges * »r Wellington.
