SETTLER'S SUICIDE
STABBED TO THE HEART. Quito a sensation "was caused in Tikorangi and Waitara on Monday morning, when it became known tliat the body of a well known settler of T"ikoranp;i, iMr J. flYrill, Iliad beeni ■found in the bush about two miles from his residence, under circumstances that pointed to suicido. Tt appears that on Saturday evening after tea. the deceased walked out of the house, saying that lie was going to cut some wood, a.nd that was the last seen of him alive. As he did not return, search parties were, out all day Sunday and on Monday morning, when his body was discovered in the bush, about two miles from his residence*, with a wound in the region of the heart, evidently inflicted by a butcher's knife, which was found alongside the body. At- the inaiiest. a verdict was returned of suicide whilst to the town nnd district. The motion was carried in silence, the councillors standing.
