CLOSER SETTLEMENT.
ITo The Editor.} Sir,—l do not know who your correspondent "Interested" may be; but I should think he is interested in properties other than those under offer to the Government. Either that, or he is interested in keeping the district back. He must be aware that first-class land in this district is too dear for purchase now, and that the be-st the Government can do is to take over land that, by close cultivation, can bo made lirst-class. The chance of buying Braiiccpetb and other stations went by years ago. Let us take the best wo can get, provided always that it can be turned to profitable account.—T am, etc., VERY MUCH INTERESTED.
