MELBOURNE CRICKETERS.
The visit -to Masterton of tbe Melbourne cricketers is an,event of more than ordinary interest! Victoria, has produced some of the finest cricketers in the world, and the Melbourne players may be oxnected to show us somethiitf in . the handling -of the willow and the leather which will be nn education to local players and act as a
stimulus to tho grand old- English game. I'ho Wairar«ii)a possesses somo keen followers of the game; but, unhappily, there lias not been that co-ordination .which is essential to the production of first-class teams. The l(K"'.'i! men may bo expected to give a good account of themselves at the wickets, though few are sufficiently sanguine to anticipate a. win. The match which commences on the Park Oval on, Wednesday, and is to bo continued on Thursday, is naturally exciting great interest among the public, as well as among cricketers. Tt is to be hoped that the weather conditions will be Mich that the visitors, a.s well as the home team, will be «een at their best.
