CANADA'S OFFER.
The splendid contribution of Canada to the solution of the naval problem of the Empire is being seriously discounted by the partisan efforts of Sir Wilfrid Laurier. Disappointed in his national aspirations, broken in his power ae a statesman, and frustrated in his reciprocal designs with the United States, Sir Wilfrid is employing every possible means to render nugatory the patriotic efforts of those who were responsible for bis undoing. It is* to be deplored that, in this overwhelming matter of defence, party politics should be permitted to obtrude themselves. And yet, so passionate is their lust for office, so insatiable their greed for personal gain, that fiome people 'would "sell their very mother to realise their selfish ambitions. Sir Wilfrid Laurier went out of office with & fairly good record of political achievement. If h 0 now steps in to thwart the Imperial destinies of the nation, he will add ignominy rather than lustre to his name.
