CLOSER SETTLEMENT.

j '(To tlie Editor.) S\ v —l am very much interested in I the closer settlement of kinds in this district, find have been waiting with anxiety the offers which wero to follow the legislation introduced by the present Government. I have noticed that to date, three properties in this district have been mentioned as suitable. These are in' the immediate vicinity of Brancepeth; two, indeed, being portions of the original station. From my knowledge' of idle properties mentioned, 1.-should say that neither of them ig in any way suitable for subdivision into small areas. The 5000 acres of Brancepeth station now under offer are the poorest of the whole estate, and the owners miight well-be pleased to have the influence of Mr Buchanan behind theni in quitting it to the' Government. ' I need lilardly state that if these properties are taken, the value of the remaining portion of Brancepeth wilt be considerably enhanced, thereby making it impo-ssible to secure this most desirable property for the people. Tam ia supporter of the present Government, but if anything in the nature of a 113 to be perpetrated, T shall be compelled to consider my position, and others will doubtless ihave their faith in the Reform Party shaken.—T am etc., INTERESTED. Master-ton, December 14. 1912.
