RAILWAY STRIKE
THE COMPANY'S OFFER. BOTH SIDES HOPEFUL. •. (Received Last Night,Vj.s o'clock.) LONDfLN, December 14. The North-Eastern Railway Company states that it offered on Thursday to reinstate every striker on the old pay, but was '•,.. prepared to dismiss the new hands, who wore promised permanent work. Tho strikers apparently believe that this reservation is likely to interfere with their promotion. A twelve hours' conference, held on Friday, was resultless. Both sides are hopeful that an agreement will be arrived at.
