Tho first .factory in. Ne-vr Zealand for the manufacture of casein began ©lterations during last season, and it

is pleasing to be able to report that an article of high quality is being turned out. A request was made by tho company owning the factory that the Agricultural Department should undertake the grading of this product, and after due consideration it was decided to accede to thifi desire. Tho shipments of casein now regularly sent forward are therefore carefully examined and reported on to the company. During the last few monllis a good deal' of interest ha-s bivn created amongst tho dairy-far-ming community with regard to the introduction of this now branch of the industry, and many inquiries for information as to the value of casein and tho methods of preparing it for tho market have been received.
