ST. BRIDE'S CONVENT

DRAMATIC ENTERTAINMENT.

A large number of people assembled in St Patrick's schoolroom, Master ton, last evening, when the pupils of St Bride's Convent staged the operette entitled "Pearl, the Fishermaidon." The excellent manner in which the entire piece was acted reflects the highest credit upon the pupils, and upon those who were responsible for their tuition, for one does not often have the pleasure of witnessing and enjoying such a clever rendering of a piece, by no means simple. A feature of the entertainment was the handsome dresses worn by tho youthful actresses, and! which gives a very effective set off to the play. Tho singing of several of the characters was of a high order, and added not a little to the splendid results of the operette as a whole, while the choruses were rendered in charming fashion. It would be unfair to individualise, when each performed her part so well. Miss M. Gray was an able pianiste. her accompaniments being of considerable assistance to the youthful vocalists. During an interval in the proceedings, His Worship the Mayor, Mr J. M. Coradine, presented the prizes won during tho year. The following pupils took oart in the production of "Pearl, the Fishermaiden."
