PROMOTION OF TEACHERS
ATTITUDE OF WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD.
At the meeting of the Wellington Education Board yesterday, a subcommittee reported on the suggestions of the Education Institute that: (a) A local promotion scheme should be devised, and (l>) that the proposals of the Institute presented to the Education Commission 'should form a substitute basis for such n scheme. The committee reporteda s follows: "Approaehins these questions with an ! earnest desiVo that the Board's method of aopointment should be the best possible in the circumstances, your commiteee lias given the most, careful consideration to tho wholo question in its various aspects; and it begs now to report that, in the opinion of tho committee, the adoption of tho proposals of the instituto would j not, in the present circumstances or the district, lead to fairer promotion than is obtained under the Board's present system of appointment." Tho report was adopted without discu £ision.
