BRITAIN v. NEW SOUTH WALES. (Received Last Night, 10.15.0'c10ck.) SYDNEY, December 6, The British Davis Cup Team opened a tournament to-day against New South Wales, in extremely muggy and warm weather. The courts were affected by overnight rains. The results ivere as follow: Lowe (Britain) defeated S. E. Jones (N.S.W.), 6—4, 6—B, 6—2; Dixon (Britain) defeated Rice, 5 —7, 6—2, 6—4. In the doubles Parke and Ixvwe won from G. Wright and A. B. Jones by 7-3, 9—ll, 6—4. The .attendance numbered 2000, including Lord Chelmsford.
