Mr W. C. Buchanan. M.P.. will open the Feathc-rston Coronation Baths, on December 12th. Mr Harold Beauchamp has been elected Acting-Chairman of Directors of the Bank of New Zealand. S.M.. .who has been relieving Mr Kerr. S.M.. on the Wan. ganni bench, leaves shortly for Greyi mouth, where he will relieve the stipendiary magistrate there. Dr and Mrs Palmer, and Miss Palmer are expected to leave England on their return to New Zealand, to-day. They will travel by the steamer Somerset, on which vessel they-.took their outward journe in March last. Colored Charters, who recently resigned his command of the Ninth Battalion, has, with the consent of the Education Board, withdrawn his resignation, and has resumed! control of the Wairarapa district. Colonel -Charters was in Masterton yesterday. At the .monthly meeting of tho Council of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, the Chairman referred to the great loss sustained bv the Society in the death oF Mr D. McGregor, of Masterton .""Other- members paid a tribute to tho good work donefey the deceased, and a vote of condolence was passed to his relatives. Jt is with extreme regret that we announce the death of Miss Laura ■Ethel Baird, second daughter of Mrs J. W. Baud, of "Brammerton," Taileru, which occurred at Wellington yesterday morning. The deceased lady was widely popular, and known to-a largo circle of friends. The funeral will leave the Masterton Railway Station, on the arrival of the 10.40 a.m. train., for th« Masterton Cem* fi«ry to-day.
