Piper, Traffic Superintendent of the North Island Railways, was on a visit to Carterton on Wednesday. Dr. Bruce Baird, M.B. (Glasgow), 31.R.C.5. (London). B.Sc. (N.Z.), has been appointed! as successor to Dr.' Fitzgerald by the employees of tho Ke\y Zealand Coal and Oil Company,. Kaitangata. G. F ; C. Campbell will succeed 3lr J. W. Poynton as Secretary- to the. Treasury, and head of the State Guaranteed Advances Board. Mr John Fanning is at present in Masterton. arranging for the production of "On Our Selection," by the Bert Bailey Company at tho Town Hall on Friday, 13th'ihst. 31 r James Brash, manager of tho Mfturiccville Dairy Company, has received the appointment of manager of the Apiti Company (Ramgitikei). Ho lis being succeeded by Mr Milne of Otago. Mr Chas. Crowther, for some years i a resident of Rotorua. where he conducted the Grand Yue hoarding establishment, died at Takapuna a few. days ago. In the early days Mr Crowther was a well-known horseman and "oachdnver and formerly drove the mail coach between Foxtan and Paikakariki, for a considerable time.
