TJio ordinary bi-monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital ami Chaiitable Aid Board was hold in the new chices in Masterton yesterday afterinon, there being present Messrs E. G. Eton (Chairman), J. C. Ewington, D. J. Cameron, H. Cornelius, A. 1). McLcod, JR. F. E, Beetham,, F. W. H.
Kummer, J Dawson, C. Boiinctt, H. Morrison, T. V. Moore, W. Moore, W. Fisher, A. H. Herbert, J. H. MurrayJackyon, and RB. Robertson. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Bolton and Speedy. Tire Treasurer reported receipts for the period amounting to £l6lO 10s. «d, including £U6! 3s. lOd. levies from local authorities. The expendit--1 lire .had amounted to £181!) Is. Id, including grants to Hospital Commit- : tees, £7!) l 17s (id. The distribution of balances' was as follows: —District nurse account, credit. £765 12s. 7d ; Martinborough Ambulance account, !credit, £l4B Is 3d; St. John Ambulifttico account, credit, £ls 12s. lid; ordinary maintenance account, credit, £575 2s. 7d; capital fund account, £2B as. 6cl.
iMiss Bagley, matron of the Grey-, town Hospital, asked that her salary be increased, owing to the increased supervision occasioned by the erection of the Buchanan Home. —Mr Cornelius moved, and Mr McLeod -seconded, that the application be held over until the estimates are under consideration in April next. —Mr W. Moore pointed out that the matron had been employed to the. charge of the Grey town. Hospital. Her duties had been considerably increased on. i account of the provision of the Buckanan Home, and she was undoubtedly deserving of a Iknius, or an in-crease.-—Mr Fisher agreed with Mr Moore. This case was*, he said, a. special one. He moved as an amendment Ithat an increase of £2O per year be made in the salary of the matron. — Mr Morrison seconded v the amendment.—Several members liaving suggested that a bonus should be given, Mr Cornelius withdrew his motion, and it was decided, on the. motion of Mr Fisher, that an increase ;it the rate of £2O per year be made in (he salary of the matron, on account of .wparato work dono in connection i with the Buchanan Home.

•Chairman said the only way to keep separate accounts was to strike an average.—The letter was received. The Inspector General of Hospitals forwarded a suggestion that proposals for expenditure on buildings he submitted to the Health Department,.— The secretary stated that the suggestion liad been approved by the Finance Committee. The reports of meeting of the Finance Committee were read ,-ind approved, as were also the reports of tho District Xairsing ,nnd Buchanan Home Committees. A motion of which notice had been given by Mr Botten in regard to the minutes of the Finance Committee was allowed to lapse, as the mover wa« not present. Accounts amounting to £2022 Is Del were passed for payment.
