At the theory of music examination Jield mi Masterton, under the Associated Board of the Royal Academy ofMusic and Itoya] College of Music London, Miss Evelyn Lolicvre, of Mangaramarama, a pupil of St. Bride's Convent. Pahiatua. was sud eessful in the Rudiments of Music examination with 9-1 marks, the possible being 99, and pass 66.'
In replying t0 the toast of the Parliament of New Zealand, at the banquet given last evening to the visiting Foresters at the Club Hotel, Master-' ton ,Mr G. It. Sykes, M.P., said that he hoped the day was not far distant when the Elective Executive would be an established fact in the Dominion, and he was sure there was a majority in the Parliament of New Zealand who favoured a change. Party politics, he said, did much to hinder legislation in present-day 'Parliaments. He was, however, pleased to say that there Avere a few young members in Parliament who refused to be bound by party politics. and he was also pleased to state that be was one of them.
