Cattle also met a good sale young cattle all selling well, and a largo •clearance was ejected. Quotations; Fat shorn ewes 14s sd, forward shorn Wea 12s 2d to 13s Bd, shorn 2-th wethers 13s 6d, woolly ewes and lambs 23s lOd, woolly hoggets l(ss "lid, fat cowo £6 lis, 2-yr Hereford cross heifers £4 12s, empty Jersey iieifers £5 to £o 10s, 2-yr emptj heifers £3 17s 6d to £4, yearling steers £2 17s to £3 4s, 18-month and 2-yr steera £2, hulls £3 2s Gd to £o 6s. Tlie New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and deduced, report having hold their weekly sale in the Mangahao .jarcis, Pahiatua, on Tuesday, when they offered a small yarding of sheep aid cattle. Competition for all classes of stock was on a par with previous ■sale, and resulted in a complete clearance at the following i-a'cos: Mixed hoggets to 14s 9d, d.i'ry eows £4 10s to £4 15s, cows with calf at foot £4 10s to £4 17s 6d, dairy cows at profit £lO 10s, store cows £1 Is to £4 ss, yearling heiferg £3 to £3 7s fxl. We also sold, on account Ngawhiro Marakaia,his interests in lease at Hastwell, containing 3-'o acres known as Makirikiri. Several "buyers were present from c utside districts. Competition was very spirited, resulting in Miss Heckler, of Mangamahoo, being declared the purchaser at a considerable advance on Tender's reserve.
STOCK SALES. 1 The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and deduced, report: At Solway yesterday we had a very fair entry of both sheep and cattle. There was a good attendance of buyers, and competition was keen throughout the sale. Wt are pleased to report a total clearance of sheep, hub a. few pens of cattle were passed in. Smallwoolly hoggets made from 12s lid to 13s Id, 2-tcoth shorn wethers lln 6d to 13s, empty ewes 17s, calves 32s (id, bulls to £o. Messrs James Macintosh and ('>. report having held their usual _we;d>ly sale in. their Mayterton (Waipciia) saleyartls on Wednesday, December 4th, when they offered a very '-mail yarding of cattle and sheep, which met with fair competition, and practically the whole yarding was sold. Quotations are as follow: Small woolly hoggets 13s, 15-month P.A*, heifers £3 2s 6d. 15-month Hereford hei?orr< £3 2s\6d. 2-yr empty heifers d. 21-vr steers £4 15s. yearling Jersey bull £2l, bull calf 22s fid. WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and Reduced, have received the following ■message from London: Wool Sales. —Buyerg operating with spirit. As compared with last sales closing rates prices are higher about , 5 per cent for X-bred lambs, greasy merino, super .scoured X-bred, scoured merino, super fine X-bred slipe, fine greasy X-bred. Higher by about 5 per cent to 7\- per cent lambs, medium X-bred, medium slipe X-bred. higher about 11- to 10 per cent merino medium and inferior, coarso creasy X-brerl, medium slipe X-bred.
