FEILDING Last Night
The second day of the Feikling races took place in weather which was dull at the start but there was bright sunshine all the afternoon. There was a good attendance and splendid racing ,was witnessed. The starting was without a flaw during tho whole mooting. The total amount put through tho machine for tho meeting was £28,324, as against £'?(i,6l6 last year. The results were as follow,
York Stakes, 6 Furlongs—Labour Day, 7.7 (Deeley), 1; Lady Volga, 7.5, 2; Crown Pearl, 9 ( 3. Also ran — Piriwai 8, Peroneal 7.10. A splendid race, Jhalf a length separating the three horses at the finish. Time, 1 min 19 4-ssec,
Nikau Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs— Semaphoro, 8.13 (Berry), 1; Suratura, 7.9, 2 ; Eocene. 8.1, 3. Also ran— Kina 8.6, Park Tide 8.3, Lady Louisa 8.1, The Dodger 7.11, Ngakau 7.8, Tamakoa 6.10, Heirarchy 6.10. Won easily by two. Vngtlis. Time, lmin 20 3-ssec.
Manchester Handicap H miles—Obligant, 7.7 (Berry), 1; Ceylon, 7.8, 2; Mendip, 8.5, 3. Also ran —Patriotic 7.13, Manawakha 7.9, Sir Solo 7.9, Ariom 7.3, Xgatimaru 7.1, British Maid 7.1, Imagination 6.13, Bonnie Boy 6.11. Obiigant led into the straight from Mendip. Coy ion also came fast. Won easily by two lengths. Time, 2min 16 2-ssec.
Cheltenham Hurdle?. 12 milesKoran, 11 (Cnker), 1; Cornelian. 10.8, 2; Silver Slnso, 11.8, 3. Also ran— LoolanttM- 170.4, Windage 9.10. Koran avoii easily by three- lengths. Time 3min 30 2-ssec. ("The crowd gave Coker, the rider of Koran, an exceedingly venomous hooting for boring Cornelian in tho straight, and for some time after they weighed in. A protest was immediately put in by the owner of Cornelian, but the stewards were already dealing with the matter. The protest was sustained, and Coker was disqualified during the pleasure of the stewards. Koran was distanced;,, and Leolanter «as placed third.)
Rongotea Hack Hurdles, 1J milesChief Marshall, 10.4, 1; Moahau, 10, 2; Flingot,-10.4, 3; Also-ran—Nescot 10.9, Bandolero 10.5, Timothy 10.3, Rendrock 9.7, Sunrose 9. Chief Marshall won rather easily by two lengths. Timothy fell at the last hurdle, hut hisi rider was not injured. Time, 2 min 57 3-ssec. ~
Welter Hack Flat, 7 furlongs—Titikura, 8.9, 1 ; Allure, 8.8,. 2; Mallard, 9.9, 3. Also ran—Master Laddo 9.9, St. Bees 9, Royal Simon 8.9, Moutoa Girl 8.5, Gnswlie 7.10, Pontiff 7.7, Lady Nolan 7.7. Regained 7.7, Jack-o'-the-Green 7.7. Won by a length. A good race for second place. Time, lmiu 35 4-ssec.
Maiden Scurry, 5£ furlongs—Awahou (Meagher), ] ; Ham '.irai.i 2; Sylvia May, 3. Also ran —Glenlivct Portraiture, Neirene, Muscadine, Elkmaid, Rahani, Elsie, Lord Lupin, Miss Jean, Charge, Waitoki, Wirelss, Waitoke, Divinia. Awahou was first into the straight and drew .away, to win by six length's. Time, lmin 12 .'3-sscc. Railway "Welter, 1 mile and a distance—Royal Marine 8.4 (McCarten), i; Loch Mabin, 8.13, 2; Con the Shaughran, 8.11, 3. Also ran—Cork 9, Otahu 9.13, Matlow 8.13, Sa n Pluic 8.10, King Try 7.12, Composed 7.10. Coming into tho straight Loch Mabin was in front, but Royal Marine put in his run and won by half a length. Time, 2min osec.
TARATAHI-CARTER TON CLUB A mooting of the .stewards of the Taratahi-Carterton Racing Club was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr G. AV. Dollor presiding. 'Hie chairman reported that 207 ewes and lambs had been purchased to graze on tlie property. A deputation from the Golf Club waited on the meeting asking for the use of the racecourse for the pur- . pose of forming golf links. After discussion it was decided that the ground committee be authorised to confer with the Golf Club with power to act. Stewards' duties on raco day were allotted as under: Gates, Messrs H. H. Wolters, W, J. Dcnbee, H. RaynerandC. Reid; birdcage. Messrs AV. Howard Booth, A. Daysh and F. F. Playle; bell and saddle cloths, Messrs J. Hodder and G. H. Eaton; numbers, Mr J. G. Oatos; totalisator, Mr S. C. Skelley; press, Messrs W. J. Denbee and C. Reid. It was re"solved to offer the privileges by tender. Mr J. Ame.s is to be engaged to work the totalisator. A racecourse detective is to be.employed. Mr H. Catt was recommended for a trainer's license.
