LYSOL POISONING.
I "If people only knew the awful suffering whicli attaches to the taking of lysol they would never take it for the. purpose of committing suicide/' i-was a remark made by the Auckland city coroner (Mr Thomas Gresham) a 4, the close of a recent proceedings at the Coroner's Court. The »übjcct of reference was the number of cases in whicli lysol had boon used of late, either in regard to suicides or attempted suicides. The previous day ■a middle-aged man had been taken to the hospital suffering from lysol poisoning, and a woman about 50 w;im charged with having attempted i< commit suicide by taking the same fiery lotion. Still another lysol tragedy occurred at Grey Lynn. SubfnspiTlor Hendry remarked, whea iseoh by a Star reporter, that one of the suicidal waves, whicli, like many other phenomena came in cycles, hid been passing over Auckland, and, strangely enough, several lysol cases had occurred. Ho confirmed the remarks' of the coroner with regard i» the agony attached to the -use of tins form of poison, and thought that people of suicidal tendencies should realise the suffering involved. It is sincerely to bo hoped that the present wave has expended itself. ,
