Bates, of the Meteo- | rological Office, this evening issued the following:— There has been considerable rain on the eastern coats of both islands, . r.21 cl cloud yaud unsettled weather has I been experienced generally. Moderate I to strong southerly winds have predominated, tho barometer being higher in the south than in the north. Present indications are for moderate to strong and variable winds, with southerly to southe-easetrly breezes predominating, with cloudy and misty weather and showers. The weather will probably make a brief improvement shortly. The barometer is unsteady, with a rising, tendency at present but a low pressure area is due to pass in the south about Sunday night.
