STRATFORD, Last Night

Tho opening day the Stratford j Show was spoilt, by wet weather. The. i two days' -heavy rain win succeeded by a heavy Scotch mist.-, which made, itself the unpleasant feature of the gathering. The attendance, in consequence, was j-mall. The entries were largo, a-.: 1 the quality ei stock surpassed other years. The weather has now cleared, am? tho prospects for People's Day are promising. Championships were awarded as fol-low:—lVcftgre-e .Jersey bull. V. V. Karknoss (Taranafci): reserve ch., A. and J. O'Dcna.'il (fuaha), cow, A. and J. O'Donnel!; reserve" ch.., \V. M. Bn.gly, Ayrshire bull, J. Kyle, ch ; reserve; W. Hail (Lwperton) ; cow, ch., C. Karste-n (Waikanae), reserve, J. Kylo. Holsteiu hull, ch. .Newton King, reserve, W. J. Lovelock (Palmers ton North) : cow, ch.. W. .J. Lovelock, roserve, Newton, Kinti. Herefords, ch., Forbes (Normanby). Shorthorns:: G. A. Turner (F.ltham). The butte.:- fat competition was won by K. D. Ha rkness, v, ith a cow which was also last year's winner, fche figures -for the four days' competition being:—l97J- lb milk, 5.6, test 11.106, lbs butter fat. The same cow won tho casein competition, with 3.4 casein, test 6.71 lbs casein, 11.06, lbs butter fat, total 17.77.
