SYNDICALISM.
.What is Syndicalism? Apparently there has been no dear definition of I the term, for We find such an authority on social question as Mr Robert Smillie stating that he does not understand it. Some explain it by saying that the workers in various indus- , tries should be organised for the pur- ' pose of taking over those industries and working them for the sake of thoso engaged.in them. In order to secure them, the workers are to shorten the hours of labour a.s far as possible,, limit the production, and increase the wages so that it will be impossible for the owners to carry, oh. 37"'?. appears to be the objective "of the Labour Party in New Zealand. It would lie interesting to know if the Labourites in: this Dominion accept th« definition, as given above. If they do not, will they kindly tell us what Syndicalism really is ?
