margin. I lie. second heat in this event went to ( . Laßochi' (2oyds), who won from A. Yilo '2syds). The linal saw ;ui excellent race in which \ i*.o led from the start to fifty jards irom tin; post, where Hoir put in iu.s cla-.m, and appeared u, have the .'.ice v, on but stumbled a:most .on 'in; t 1 j' C- ( a 'lowing Mes,"'iL:T, uit finished very fast, to yet up. La Hoc-lie and Iggulden filled the places. \\ hen S. Hoar, who possesses a natural style of running, leanis Lo run straight and lose t'he bad habit of looking behind, lie will prove a strong asset to the. Mastcrton Club. He would have won tho 220 yds last evening had it not been for this habit of looking back, and which no doubt caused him to fail. Messenger, however. deserved his win, as he put in an excellent finishing run. In the mile J. 13radlntry scored a popular win, conceding his opponents big ytarts. He. really won without an effort, and ran a splendidly judged race. Hood ran well, but tired over the final lap, while S. Temple, who gained second honours ran excellently for a young runner. 'With more experience the latter should becomo a good distance runner. A walking event, once round, for boys created a pleasant diversion during the interval between the two chief events.

There was as usual a good attendance of interested spectators, including not a few ladies, and all appeared .to . enjoy the sport-. The results were as follow:
