PAHIATUA COMPETITIONS.

PAHIATUA, Last .Nigh t
The entries received for the second annual competitions of the Pahiatua Musical and Elocutionary Society are distinctly gratifying, the number being considerably in excess of the total received for the inaugural gathering. The total us over 160, as against 1"0 last year. Competitors, .besides local talent, are drawn from Welling ion, Masterton, Woodville, Eketahuna, Palmerston North and Mangahao. The competitions will commence on Wednesday, December 4th, and will he continued till the following Friday evening. The judge for thp elocutionary section will be Mr T. L. Buick, of Wellington, while Mr H. E. Guntor, of Palmerston North, will adjudicate in the musical section.
