The remains of the late Mr- James Fitzgerald were interred in the Masterton Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The funeral cortege included a number of old identities of the town.

Old residents of the Rangitikei will regret to hear of the death of Mrs M. H. Wilton, of Marton. whore she has resided for over thirty years, and was widely known for her hospitable and charitable nature.
Miss Lily M. Cunther, second daughter of .Mr John Gnntlicr. a"d formerly of Masterton and Pahiatua, was married at Wellington >.m Saturday last to Mr James Hyndmnn, eldest son of Mr Robert Hyndman, of GreymouC Mr R. S. Florence, S.M., who )m been stationed in Blenheim for some two or three years, has received notice of transfer fo Gtsborne, where ho will take np the duties of Distri.-t Land Ragistrar. Mr G. H. Cnllen, solicitor, who has of lato been conducting his firm's business in Greytown, has found it necessary, owing to business demands, to again take up his residence in Masterton. Mr H." Mason will carry on the business, on behalf of the firm, at Grey town.
During the course of the .service at the Methodist Church in Pahiatua on Sunday evening, the Rev. J. -J. Pendray, who came to Pahiatua from Eketahuna last April, announced (hat all being well, he intended visiting England shortly after the Conference met in February next, and th'at during his absence a probationer supply would act.
Wellington is about to receive .1 visit from the Rev. Henry Howard, superintendent of the Adelaide Central Mission, one of the most eloquent preachers in Australasia. Mr Howard arrived iu Auckland la,st Monday, and is now on his way to Wellington by way of Rotorua and the Wangamu River.
Many will regret to hear of the death of Mrs Charles' Redwood, which occurred at TooAvoomba, Queensland.. In letters received thi.s week giving particulars of her death, it is state:"! that her last illness was a short ono and to those in .New Zealand, who had not heard she was ill, the news of her death came as a shock. Mrs Redwood's parents (Mr and Mrs Grimstone) were among the first settlers in New Zealand, and she was barn in 18-13 in the Bay of Islands. Later On the family resided in Wellington. Her early married life was spent in Blenheim "Riverlands," where site was an ideal hostess, and one who by her retiring and cheerful influence made, guests, and those by whom she was surrounded, welcome the privilege of her society. Mrs Redwood had 'fifteen children, twelve of wham survive her, and thirty grandchildren. She was sister-in-law to 'Archbishop Redwood, and sister to Mrs Thomas Redwood and Mrs Waddy, of Blenheim, and Mr. Leonard Grimstone, manager of the New Zealand Bank in Waitara.
