(STIUSTCHTLRCH, Last Night.
A t a largo and representative meeting of the Canterbury branch of the Now Zealand Locomotive Enginedrivers' and Firemen's and Cleaners' Association, the following resolutions were carried unanimously in regard to the statements of the president and secretary of tho A.S.R.S.: "After listening to tho explanations of the offic&rs of onr Union, this branch strongly resents tho action of the president and secretary of .the A.S.R.S., in giving utterance to such misleading statements in regard to the actions of our Council, while interviewing the Minister of Railways in regard to granting increases to firemen. Such misleading statements deserve to bo strongly resented by every un ionist in New as being circulated for the. express purpose >f trying to raise discord in the ranks of a highly organised- and successful union. This branch also desires to convey to their Council, its entire confidence in the officers of their Union, and to thank them heartily for their l>est efforts in securing improved wages for cleaners, firemen and drivers."
It was explained by the officer? that ■the statement 'madef regarding increases to firemon, and the actii.n of themselves before tho Minister in regard to tho same, was absolutely without foundation, and the officers challenged tho president and secretary of the A.S.R.S. to prove their ptatemonte.
