Rev. J. S. Young, who has been attending the Presbyterian General Assembly.in Wellington, returned to Masterton last evening.

Mr J. Cotter, of Masterton, who recently underwent a serious operation in Wellington, returned to Masterton on Thursday. His many friends will be pleased to learn that he satisfactory progress towards recovery.

Mr M. A. Hobbs, a very old and respected resident of Stratford. and formerly of Hawera, died this week at the age of eighty years.

Mr A. Hay. teller at the Martinborough branch of the Hank of New Zealand, has been transferred to Christchurch. Mr Hay is an enthusiastic tennis and hockey player.
