Notices regarding the marriage, had, asserted the defendant been in-.:-r rted in the Nelson' and Wellington p.,pei's. She expressed the opinion J 3- :-i t they were sent to those papers (she had relatives in Nelson) by Wright. Tnterrog ited regarding the notices in the Southern papers, he stated that ho had no recollection whatever of having been responsible for their insertion. The Magistrate expressed little coulit as to the fact of tho defendant not being "Wright's wife.. The varia- ] tion applied for would be granted, defendant being given the custody of the two children. His Worship remarked that something should be done to fit tho children for the battle of life. He stated that ho.would proba.biy communicate with plaintiff's relatives at Home, with tlio idea of seeing if they could render any I'ssistance.
