VIENNA, November 13. After a desperate battle, the Montenegrins were compelled to evacuate Alessio and Medua. AN ARMISTICE SOUGHT. SEVENTEEN SOLDIERS EXECUTED. (Received Last Night, 8.10 o clock.) CONSTANTINOPLE, Nov. 13. Tt is reported that the Porte has applied direct to Bulgaria for an armistice. . An officer and seventeen soldiers have been executed here for cowardice at the battle of Kirk Kilisseh.
TRIPLE ALLIANCE. WHAT DOES IT INTEND TO DO? (Received November 13, 9.23 a.m.) VIENNA, November 12. The Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, goes to Berlin at the end of next week, to consult the Kaisei with regard to the action the Triple Alliance intends to take in the present emergency. BUDAPEST, November 12. The mission of M. Oaneff, President of the Bulgarian Sobrann\ to Austria, is interpreted n-s an indication that Bulgaria is sympathetic with Austria's sensitiveness regarding the Servian claims with respect to Albania, which does not form part of the original programme, of the Allies. Bulgaria, it is believed, is now determined to insist on Albanian auto nom v.
VIENNA, November 1.2. M. Daneff, who conferred with Count Berchtold (Austrian Foreign Minister) and the German Ambassador at Budapest, has h:d an interview with the Emperor Francis Joseph. It is understood that King Ferdinand is seeking to effect a compromise between Austria and Servia.
A MBASSA DORS WARNED. ("Received November 13, 12.20 p.m.) CONSTANTINOPLE, Nov. 12. The Porte has readdressed the Powers, inquiring what progress towards a cessation o.f hostilities lias been made. Kiamil Pasha, the Grand Vizier, has warned the Ambassadors that if the Bulgarians enter Constantinople, the Ambassadors, with young and old. will all die. Tho Ambassadors have recommended each Power to send a third warship to Constantinople.
TURKISH PRISONERS AT WORK. ,Received November 13, D.23 a.m.) SOFIA, November 12. Turkish prisoners are working on the construction of a railway connecting the arsenal with the main line, and are also making ammunition oxwaggons. They are paid a franc (lOd) dailv.
BOMBARDMENT OF TAR A BOSCH
(Received November 13. 9.33 a.m.) CETTINJE, November 12. The bombardment of Tarnbosch by the Montenegrins was continued on Sunday evening. The Turks were driven to the highest points, where l they were subjected to desperate exposure, which, was intensified by the snow and lack of food. The garrison attempted to force its way to Skutari but the Montenegrins drove it back.
MANY WOUNDED. ARABS OFFER TROOPS. (Received November 13, 12.25 p.m.? CONSTANTINOPLE, Nov. 12. The wounded are arriving in such numbers th.it the Porte is transferring them to Broussa, Asiatic Turkey, 57 miles'south-south-enst of Constantinople. It is feared the water supply will heroine affected and carry the cholera to Pern, a. suburb of Constantinople. in which is tho European quarter. The Arabs have offered many thousand troops to -help the Caliphate. When the Turkish warship Masudia shelled the vicinity of Rodosto. Greeks and Americans became pani stricken, fearing a massacre. They took refuge in the Consulates. A feeble, dispirited Turkish garrison occupied the tronehos around Rodosto. Tho fight lasted all tile afternoon. Tho Bulgarians are steadily approaching tho town. with 60,000 Turkish pounds. They have disappeared.
AUSTRIA AND PERSIA. PR EFER ENTTAL TREATMENT OFFERED. (Received Last Night, 10.40 o'clock./ BELGRADE, November 13. Austria and Hungary have offered preferential treatment to the industry and commerce of Servia, and have also proposed that the latter should be satisfied witli an outlet in the Aegean Sea, instead of in the Adriatic. M. Pasics, Premier of Servia, lia.s reserved his reply until the Allies have been consulted. Personally, ho has urged M. Ugenon, the AustroHungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, to endeavour to secure the relinquishment of demands calculated to increase the ill-feeling of Servia towards Austria and Hungary.
PREPARING FOR RESISTANCE. KING OF GREECE AT SALONIKA. (Received Last Night, 9.35 o'cloek.) ATHENS, November 13. Ri/.a Pasha is at Monastir, preparing for a vigorous resistance. The King, with Queen Hellene, Prince Georgo and Princess Alice, received an ovation at Salonika. Houses were decorated and flags flown by the Balkan Allies. PEACE PROPOSALS. MEDTATTON SOUGHT BY TURKS. (Received.This Morning. 12.10 o'clock.) CONSTANTINOPLE, Nov. 13. In reference to Turkey's appeal for mediation, the Powers have informed the Porte that the Balkans are ready ( to hear suggestions regarding a basis ; for peace. j Turkey replied that the Balkans | initiated the war, and ought to be the first to declare what- they demand.
