Mr M. G'asolberg. of Masterton, is at present on a visit to Christchurch.

Mr W. H. Cook, town clerk of Hastings, left Masterton for Wellington. yesterday afternoon.

The friends of Mr and Mrs C .Wintringham, of Masterton. will regret to hear that their daughter Ruby is lying very dangerously ill.

Mr W. T. Lovelock, the woll-known Jersey cattle breeder of the Manawatu, was a visitor to Masterton yesterdav.

The death is announced at Wanganui of Mr J. Pidwell. Deceased! was about 7-1 years of age.

It is understood that Mr P. C Kreeth, the well-known Wellington, journalist, will shortly take over tho management of the Taihape Daily Times

Mr and Mrs E. Welch, of Lansdowne, Masterton, who have been- on a visit to the Old Country, reached Wellington by the Ulimarou yesterday from Sydney.

News was received in Masterton yesterday of the death of Sister Mary Columba, which took place at the Mater Misera Cordiac Hospital, Atickland, yesterday morning at B.o'clock. The deceased Sister was suffering from curvature of the tpine, and after being operated on, was making satisfactory proress towards recovery, when an attack of appendicitis ! necessitated another operation. This J was followed; by complications from | which she never rallied. Every e»» fort was made to save a young and useful life. One of the best surgeon* in New Zealand left nothing undone to bring about her recovery, but both surgeon's skill and the best and kindest professional nursing failed to restore tho health shattered by long severe suffering, which, she bore with truly Christian patience. Sister Mary Columba was a daughter of Mr Collerton, of Tinui, and had been, a member of the Brigidine Order for nearly -eleven years, having entered ■ the convent in. 1902. and made, her profession at Mount St. Brigid, Randwick, Sydney, in December, 1904. Deceased was in the 29th year of !bei» ago. R.I.P. The remains will Iro brought to Masterton by the train reaching here at 6 o'clock this evening, and the funeral will leave St. Patrick',s Church on Friday, at 2 p.m., for the Masterton Cemetery.
