A PARCELS DELIVERY.

Sir.—Has it ever struck you what an unnecessary waste is going in Masterton, as well as all other towns in X.Z., in the delivery of goods to customers \ C'oulcl not some scheme be devised whereby a more systematic: delivery of groceries, broad, meat and general goods could be made. Now that motor ears are getting.plentiful a company could be formed for the delivery of goods throughout the town and outlying districts. Such a company could have a central depot for the receipt of parcels and could arrange (.:> call at the stores <t fixed times. The telephone and motor service ought to be the means of simplifying the delivery of goods. Half a dozen or more tradesmens' carts call daily at many of the town and suburban houses to deliver orders and at times 3 or 4 bakers may be seen in one street delivering bread within a few doors of each another. The expense of delivery does jiot seem to have been under tho notice of the "Cost of Living Commission" as one cause for tho clearness of food. In tho old times the housewife used to go with a basket on her arm to market Xow the other extreme has been reached and a packet of hairpins is sent by tho storeeart. An up-to-date parcel delivery by motor service is a payable proposition.— a payable proposition.—l am etc., PROGRESS.
