THE KNOX CASE.

JURY AGAIN DISAGREES. (By Telegraph. —Special tc Age.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the case of William Knox, charged on* three 'counts with performing an illegal operation, the re-trial took place to-day, but the jury, as on a former occasion, failed to agree. A fresh trial was ordered for the 19tli inst. To-morrow a second charge against Knox will be proceeded with. Addressing the jury to-day, the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) said he> was sorry our laws were so different from those of other countries. In Germany, France, and some parts of America, the ,agreement of twelve jurors was not required. He did not see why, if Judges wore not asked to agree on. question of fact, jurors should be asked to do so.
