ANNUAL CATTLE FAIRS. j The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and Re- ] duced, report having hold their an- j nual cattle fair on Thursday. Owing I to the very boisterous weather a large number of entries did not eomo forward; this Avas most noticeable in tho scarcity of grown cattle. We have, however, to report a good clearance of nearly all stock yarded at the following rates: 3-yr bullocks £5 10s to £6 3s, 2-yr steers £4 13s to £5, yearling steers £2 7s 6d to £2 18s, store cows £3 8s to £3 15s, 2-yr empty heifers £4 13s to £5, yearling heifers £3 5s to £3 19s, bulls £3 3s to £5 7 s 6d. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report.—At our cattlo fair held at Palmerston North on Wednesday, November 6th, wo yarded close on 1700 head of cattle of various classes. Tho extremely boisterous weather prevented several lines from coming forward, and no doubt affected tho attendance to a great extent. Tho sale, however, opened well with young cattle, competition being keen, and bidding throughout was brisk, except for a few lines of low-conditioned 3yr steers, but any lines which were passed at auction soon found pur- ! chasers, and we have to report a. most j successful sale, every line changing hands, with tho exception of a few lots of bad-coloured steers. Quotations: 111 -1 and 5-yr bullocks, £7 12s Cd; 50 forward Shorthorn, Hereford bullocks, on account of Mr J. Linklater, £7 7s ; GO 3 and 4-yr bullocks, on account of Mrs S. McDonald, £7 6s; 30 2 and 3-yr Polled gus steers, on account of Mr R-. 10. Beckett, £5 10s Gd; 70 3-yr steers, on account of Mr O. H. Druce, £5 12s 6d; 111 3-yr steers, on account ofMr jr.
