TERRITORIALS REFOR.E THE COURT. In the Magistrate's Court at Mastertori yesterday, before Mr L. G. Reid, S.M., Thonuis Tiyrne, for whom Mr C<. JI. Culleii ajipeared, ' w'as charged with having failed to attend drill, as required by the Defence Act, Mr Culleji said that accused was employed as a motor car driver and could not get off to attend drills without losing his position. Mr Reid said that defendant should make sumo arrangements with tlio authorities in regard'to getting away to attend the drills. A fine of l(Xs and costs 19s was imposed." Eraneis O'Connor was charged with having failed to take tlio oath of allegiance, and having; neglected to attend drill. Mr S. J. Moraii appeared for defendant. T'ho failure to attend drills was admitted. After one witness for the prosecution (the Sergeant-Major) .had been .hoard, His Worship desired proof of the enrolment of accused at Ashburton. Sergeant Miller conseqnontly applied for" an adjournment in order to procuro this. Mr Moran objected to the adjournment. Mr Reid said lie had Jto sympathy with tlio defendant, as ho considered that defendant was'.shirking his duty. He intended to gave every facility to the Authorities to prove their case. Mr Reid adjourned the case until Xoveini ber 22nd.
