Charles Towns, ex-champion sculler, is willing to accept Arnst's offer to allow any sculler in Australia ten seconds' start over the Parramatta course. Arnst announces that ho is willing to race Towns in twelve weeks for £2OO aside, or all the. best scullers in Australia can join in a sweepstake of £IOO apiece, Arnst allowing the crowd ten second at the finish. Arnst does not desire to interfere with Pearce's trip to England, but is willing to row Pcarce for any sum from £2OO up to £SOO, allowing ten seconds at the finish. Towns wants th& allowance at the start.
