Mrs G. Congdon, mother of Mr A. J.Congdon, ofMasterton, died in. the Dannevirko Hospital last night. Mr Leoder has tendered his resignation as engineer to tho Timaru Borough Council. The resignation was accepted at a meeting of tho council last evening. The Rev S. J. Serpell, of Masterton, will Droside over the annual session of the Methodist Church Synod for the Wellington district, which opens at Dannevirke to-day. Mr Andrew Robertson, an. old resident of Napier, 67 years of age, was found drowned on the beach early yesterday morning, says a Napier telegram. The deceased arrived in New Zealand in the early 'seventies. He went to Napier a few years later, and resided there ever since. He leaves a grown-up family of five, including Dr Robertson, who recently toured the Dominion in the interests of the Prosbyterian Indian Mission. The deceased had been in ill health for the past four or five years. A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at St Matthew's (Anglican) Church a t Hastings,- on Wednesday last, October 30th. Tlio contracting parties were Mr George Lewis Roes, second son of Mrs Reos of Worksop Road, Masterton, and' Miss Margaret Weir Glassford, of Napier. The ceremony was performed hv the Rev. Brocklehurst, and was followed by a breakfast at tho Ngaturi Tea Rooms, after which Mr and Mrs George Rees left on a trip to japier and Gisborae. A pleasant function took in the mailroom of the Mastorton Post Office, last evening, when two members of the staff were made presentations from the.'r fellow employees. Mr G. Boagey, who leaves Masterton in a few iays to take over the charge of the Havelock (Nelson) Post Office, was the te--cipient of a solid silver butter dish and cake dish, and also an enlarged, photograph of the P. and T. Hockoy team, the latter being from tho meratas of the Club. Mr R. B. Williams, on the occasion of his approaching ■marriage, was presented with a handsome silver tea pot and hot water jug, tho latter being from the Hockey Club of which Mr Williams was a prominent member.
