(BY "Also Started.") FIXTURES. November 2, 4, 6, 9. —C.J.C. November 6, t).—Auckland 11.C. To-tlay will witness the opening of New Zealand's premier meeting, and from various reports interest in the bio; fixture is as keen, if not keener, than in former years. The New Zealand Chip, the most ■riehlv endowed race in the Dominion, always attracts a good deal of attention, not alone from racing men hut the generil community; and during the past few days the question which is often overheard is, "What is going to win the Cup?"

This year's event has drawn the nice fie'd of fourteen runners. It cannot be snid tlmt the field is a strong one. but that should not rob the race of interest.

Undecided will no doubt start favourite, and ::s tlie big Mensehikeif gelding has been doing all that is asked of him, His chances of add in-* further laurels to his already long list look particularly bright. As one well known racing man said -after his display at Wellington, "Undecided will come in on his own." That may or may not be but Mr Smart's gelding will take a power of beating. Allegory (7.0) has all along boon at n very sliort price in the bet tin;-; market-. but whether it is justified or not remains to be seen, (t will be rather remarkable if a maiden can annex the big event. It is probable {hat hi-: position in the market is rather the result of his being trained by R. J. I Mason than anything he lias actually shown. Deelcy will have the mount.

Masterpiece (7.13) will represent Sii C. Clifford, and on his work on the tracks, last year's Derby winner will itake some beating. He has rdre.ulv shown staying ability, and is reported to be a better Jiorse than ever ho has shown. C. Emmorson, th<> best light-weight in the Dominion. nil! have the mount, which is a lot i.i the colt's favour.

Vice-Admiral (D.l) has been set .t tr.sk tliat may prove bpyond birr-. especially liis form of kite has not boon impressive. Lady Lucy C 8.1) won the race in 1909, hut- with u stone less on her, hark. She lias shown 110 form since, and may not lie able to come hack. .She is vorv well at present, and should run a. good race. Domino (8.0) Ins shown good staying powers, hut lie is reported to have contracted a cough. If suck is the case he mnv he written off. Fit and well lie would have a stavors' chance.

J Goldfinder (7.9) was .much in the boom last year, hut failed'to act up to it. r lhis voir lie is fancied in some fjiinrters. Tic i s nicoly handicapped, hut it is doubtful if he is good enough. The Wairarapa-ownod Sinapis (0.11-S) has shown some fair form up to miles, but beyond that nothing is known ol her. Oil the strength of a good gallop at Tliccartnn on Thursdi.v she has come in for .some support. Hut the St. .Ambrose mare was always a brilliant track worker, rrhicli somewhat discounts the performance. Soldiers' Olionts (T.o) has a greit reputation in the South, and has proved himself a solid customer up -t 1 a mile. The other mile, however, should find him out.

Bronze (8.8) no t shown any of her l:i s[ season's brilliancy, but mar inn well. T| Undecided ■were out of the race, it would bear a very open appearance, but on recent form the big bay must take a power of bent-

The other events on the card have drawn big fields, and as the weather is reported to be fine, fresh totalisator records .should be put up at lliccarton to-day. Black Lupin, which many expected to win a nee at the Cup Carnival, lias contracted a cold and'is „ doubtful starter. Lad roup, who failed badly afc Trentliam last Monday, is' engaged in the Spring Phte to-day, and may make up for his failure. 'Hie Stewards' Handicap should re-' .suit in the best race for man v seasons. The best sprinters in the Do-' minion are engaged, and with such gallopers a s Bobrikoff, Culprit. Peireiip. Crown Pearl, . l'>m;-»gardp, Blue Lake and Peroneal a "rail battle should ensuo.' The ] lo 7se that gpts out well in tin's event has a big' nd\antage, so that quick beginners Wee Blue Lake, Ermengarde and Pearl should play a prominent part in thefcvont.
