THE EARTH HUNGER.
The Wellington Evening Post has tievoted a series of articles to .showing how large an area of land there is in Hawke's Bay and the Wairarapa, held by a comparatively small number of settlers. This 'information is, of course, half a century old. But wt •have had in power for' over twenty years a Government which prided i*
self upon its "bursting-up" policy, and its ability to provide land for the people. What has it been doing? What has it done in the Ma.sterton and Wairarapa. electorates? How many estates has it burst up in Hawke's Bay? It is, of'course,'useless to pursue those questions. The point which most concerns, us, at the. present juncture is, "What does the Masse?- Government intend doing to remedy tho existing state of affairs?" The Land Bill just passed will not supply the remedy. The increased graduated tax will not do it. How, then, is tho problem to be solved ?
