MOLESTING HIS WIFE
A lame labourer, named Edwaj<d' Ericksouj, who had been twice previously remanded on a charge of molesting his wifo, wh« obtained a separaion order against him a few months ago, waft brought before Mr L. G. Heid, S.M., at tho Pahiat-ua Court on Saturday. , Defendant had lately been living at Taihape. He I pleaded not guilty. ' The police stated that Mrs Erick- • son had complained of Eriekson's con- . dnct since his return to the district, and she had' been frightened. Mrs Eridtson. in her evidence, said that her husband came round to her house both at night and also at 6 o'clock in the morning looking in at her window before she was up. He had also watched her house un.d ! followed her about, and made threatening statements in letters. She had given him no encouragement to come near the place. Defendant pleaded he hatE mo intention of causing his wife any annoyance. He simply went to her house to get his spectacles. The Magistrate disbelieved defendant's story, and after warning'him, convicted him, arrd! ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon, on condition that he left the town daring the day.—Pahiatua Herald.
