LABOUR DAY.
Labour Day is with us again. It is one of those annual functions which have been thrust upon ns, whether we like it or not. Wo have never yet been .able to properly understand the day. Tho law requires that occupants of factories shall have a holiday. It makes no such provision, however, in regard to employees in shops a nd offices—unless thoy be Government <-f----fices. The consequence is that we have a lopsided arrangement, which compel;-; abstention from work' on the part of one-half the community, and makes the other half pursue the even tenor of its toiling day. The good "Liberals" ordained it so. And it is nice to have something to remember these Liberals by!
