tlho proposal to conduct a motor mail service between Eketahuna and Pongaroa is important, so far a.s Masterton is concerned. It may be regarded as the beginning of a general system by which the mail connections will bo brought closer to that larger centres of population. Th« question naturally arises, if a motor service can be run to advantage between Kketalitma and Pongaxoa, why should it not be mm with equal advantage between Master-ton and Pongaroa ? This question should bo seriously discussed by tho Department,
