LABOUR DEMONSTRATION
'AT PALMERSTON NORTH. (B • Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTOX N., Last Night. A. flaxmill workers' demonstration was held to-day, against the imprison-' ment of the Waihi strikers, and was attended by about 250 workers. Several mills, however, including the big Miranui mill at Makerua, were not represented. Messrs Webb and Semple, president and secretary of the Federation of Labour, addressed the men at the Opera House; where resolutions were passed protesting against the imprisonment of the Waihi strikers, the alleged victimising of the Hun-tly miners, the executive of tho Auckland General Labourers lockout, and the Kuripaka miners lockout, and pledging the meeting to support the Federation in the fight against the despotism of tho autocracy. A .further resolution was -carried protesting [ against the Government's inaction ■ concerning the accommodation and sanitation of flaxmills. A procession and speeches in the square followed. Tho proceedings were most orderly.
