BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ORDI NARY MEETING. The '.;!'difia:"y niect.ing of tho Masterton Borough Council was held in tin* Council Chambers last evening, there being present His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. M. Conditio), and Crs. H. J. {)' Leary, F. W. Temple, E. Flanagan, J. Candy, J. P. Prentico and A. l)onaid. A letter was received from residents in Church Street, asking that stract improvements in that quarter be completed. It, was decided that the work be done, as soon as possible. An application was re-ceived from a ratepayer to have the year's rata--rebated, as she was not- in a position. to pay them. The matter was left in the hands of the Town Clerk to investigate the case. An application from the Masterton District High School Committee for any books, which might not be found necessary to the Municipal Library, wss referred to the Library Committee. The recently formed Thursday Cricket Association wrote asking for the use of Park Oval on Thursday afternoons, and asking that as the association was not in a strong financial position, a nominal foe should bo charged to each club. Cr.. Temple moved that the representatives of the Cricket Council be asked to meet the Borough Council at its next meeting, when, arrangements could be made for controlling all cricket played on the Park Oval. In reference to a building which had been erected- without a permit being granted according to tho Borough bylaws, it was decided that the matter be placed in the hands of the borough engineer, who will see that the by-laws are carried out.
