THIRTY-FIFTH ANNUAL SHOW. The thirty-fifth annual show of the Wairarapa A. and P. Society is to be held ou the well-appointed showgrounds at Carterton on Wednesday and Thursday of tlris week. The catalogue for the show, which has been nicely printed at the office of the Wairarapa Daily News, has already "boon issued. This gives, besides details of the exhibits, a list of members, the officials, stewards, train arrangements, judges, and a plan of the show-grounds. Pride of place is given in the catalogue to the competitions, six events in which are to be decided on Wednesday, and five on Thursday. For the walking match for horses there are eight entries, for trotting four, .and for trotting in harness five. The maiden leaping match lias brought out -"twelve contestants, and the leaping match for ponies ten. A bareback riding competition will be held on the first day, for which post entries will be received. There are ten entries for the best turn-out (to be driven by ladies) which are to be judged on the second day. On that rl.-w the hunters' jumping competition will also he decided. There are fifr teen entries in this event, including "such well-known performers as Saltation, .Yeast, Greydawn and Bluebell. Tn the girls' riding competition there nxp six contestants, and in the boys' division there are three. For the champion jumping competition, which will be the big event of the second dcv, there ,are ten entries. .TJhese 'rill embrace two previous wirfrteifs"in <*rey Dawn and Yeast, Mr J. Sweeney's Saltation (which has already wins to his credit), and the Hastings horse Micky Frie. , Live stock judging competitions will be conducted on both days of the show. On the first day, three yearling dairy heifers and five fat sheep will be iudged, and on the second day, ■rhjMjornt horses. Entries for these events will be received up till 11 a.m. on. the first day of the show. The grand.parade of stock will'take place'rpund the oval at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday. .- Three weight-judging competitions win .he held. for. which substantial prizes are offered. One of these will ! ~ the weight of'av bullock, another of' a sheen, and the third of a pig. ' In thoroughbred horses there is a very poor entry. Four thoroughbred stallions are entered, namely Peter Pan, ■Conqueror, Obatsw'orth and Canada, i The hack and harness classes are, as usual, well filled.. The ponies will be well represented. The farmers' classes are well filled, there being no fewer than twelve entries for mare or gelding capable of drawing locwt. and seven for farmer's trap horse. .. Ammtrr the exhibitors of the popular Hoi stein-Fris-ians are Messrs James Hart (Rnu-rao-ti), W. I, Lovelock (Palmerston North), A. Harold Street (fall Block),.

W. O. Bayliss (Carterton), H. Bayliss (Mangatainoka), Newton King (New Plymouth), Dalefiold Syndicate, John Donald (Wanganui), and Albert J. Galliehan (Tiakitahuna). The show of Holsteins promises to be the best ever soon in the Dominion. The judge is Mr J. C. N. Grigg, of Longbeach, Canterbury. There will again be a strong representation in the Ayrshire section, the . exhibitors including Messrs J. Kyle (Aokautere), D. Buchanan (Taikitahuna), C. Karsten (Waikanae), T. H. Colpirian (Waikanae), C. Morgan and Sons, L. R. Kemble, J. J. Chapman, and H. W. H. Griggs. The next in order of strength will be Jerseys, which are represented by such popular breeders a,s Messrs E. Eagle, junr., J. Standen, W. H. Booth, A. E. Booth, J. J. Mead a-nd Joseph Billington (Masterton). The milking classes are all strongly represented, and the competition promises to be very keen. There are no fewer than twentyfour entries for the champion butter fat competition. - ' ■ • ■

The sheep section is not as Strang I as it should be",-''although some of the i best breeders in the North Island have ! entered the lists., Competition in the Lincoln classes will be between Mrs J. D. Ormond (Karamu), Messrs A. V. Collins (Otane), W. C. Buchanan, A. E. Anderson, J. W. Compton and H.*R. Wilton (Pahiatua). The competition in Romneys will bo good, the exhibitors including G, E. Allen, E. W. Allen. W. H. Booth, A. V. Collins, J. H. Tatham, Arch. Clark, Feast Bras., and James Tod (Otane). Mrs J. D. Ormond will be the only exhibitor of Border Leicesters, and English Leicester.? will Ik represented by Mr W. C. Buchanan alone. The Southdown section has brought out some well-known breeders, notably Messrs W. Howard Booth, Ellis Bros. (Bulls), Nelson Bros. (Tomoana), and A. H. Russell (Twyford). Shropshire Downs will he shown by Messrs Rayner Bros., A. V. Collins (OtaneV and H. R. Wilton (Pahiatua). The farmers' classes are well up to the standard, and the fat sheep classes have brought out satisfactory entries. For some reason or another, the pig industry ha s not readied the stage in the Wairarapa that might be expected and the competition at the shows is consequently restricted. Tin's year Berkshires, porkers and bacon pigs only are shown, and these in comparatively small numbers. The dog section will be a strong feature of the show. The N.Z. Kennel Club's championships for deerhounds and Irish setters have been allotted this show. The competition in Millies is exceptionally good, there being ten entries in smooth-haired sheep'dogs, and fourteen ,in .rough-haired sheep dogs. Ten cattle' dogs will also face the judge. The Irish setter class has not brought out the competition thnt was expected. There will be a good show of fox terriers, 'cocker spaniels, and pugs. The show of produce in the agricultural hall will, as usual, be a great I attraction. There will bo keen competition in wheat, oats, maize and barley. Five exhibits of honev will be made. There are thii-tocn entries in powdered butter for table use ten for the open powdered class, and fifteen for farmers' fresh butter. There are three competitors in the export butter class. Cheese will be a strong class in itself, all the leading factories of the district having exhibits. The absence of outside competition in the, cheese and butter sections is. however. ,T-o r l,p f ].

Thn bono industries section is. as usual, well favoured with exhibits, and some very pood school exhibits will ?)o made.

The Department of Agriculture will make a demonstration in the agricultural hall, and the show of implements and vehicles, together -witli the special stands, will complete an exhibition creditable to the Society, the officials and the district.
