In reporting to the Auckland A. \ and P. Association on tho question of rural education, a sub-committee expressed the opinion that while continuing work on the lines previously followed in the Auckland province in the matter of agricultural education, stops should be taken as follows : (!) Consolidation of small schools. (2) The establishment of an agricultural school of the highest typo, based on experience obtained from such colleges as •Guclph, St. Anne's do Belle Yue, Ha-wkesbury, Wisconsin, etc. (J!—a) The formation of an «-d- ---( vissory committee of practical men to work in conjunction with the ex- | perimontal stations "'and farms of instruction ::t Ruaknra, Moumanaki, and Weraroa in the Xorih is l ,and, and tlvo other farms that the Government propose to start in tho South Island, with view of insuring a more continuous policy with 1 regard to their general work, both 1 educational and practical, no matter what Government was in nov/or; | (h), ovent.ua lly representatives might lie selected from those committees to form a permanent board of agriculture to act :-s r.n advisory body, to assist thorn to encourage tho devolopomont and improvement of all farms of agriculture, and toafford the country settlers every facility to take advantage of the most recent discoveries in agricultural I science. ('1) Tho organising of continuation. classes and of .short a.nd nvaritie-al jagricultural ci'iurse.s. (o) Tho. founding of agricultural scholarships to enable boys to proceed to the university or to agricultural collegos, to got a thorough training ,in tho .sciences bearng on agriculture.
