REPORT OF COMMITTEE. {By Telegraph—Fress Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. [ The report of the special committee 1 appointed to inquire into tho petition of McLean Bros., for favourable consideration and relief in connection tion with tho Otira tunnel contract was presented in the House of Representatives this afternoon. It recommends that in view of the whole circumstances and of tho difficulties ex-perienced-by the contractors and sureties, they should bo released from the contract, if the contractors desired ; that the Government should invite tonders for the completion of the contract ; and that pending a decision on tho tenders, tho Government should carry on the work. If no satisfactory tender was received, the Government was recommended to make such arrangements for tho completion of the work as they may think advisable.
