TO-DAY'S WEATHER
NEW ZEALAND'S FORfiCAST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. , The Rev. D. 0. Bates, of the Meteorological Office, this evening issued the following report: — Cloudy and unsettled weather has prevailed, heavy rain falling in many parts of the South Island. Northerly winds, -strong to gale, have prevailed notliiward of Kaikoura and Hokitika, and strong south-easterlies elsewhere. The barometer has fallen in the 'north and risen in the south. Presi-nj; indications are for northerly winds,: strong to gale, veering hy west to southerly north ward of Hokitika and Kaikoura, and south-easterly winds prevailing elsewhere. Heavy rain is probable generally, especially on the Kast Coast of the South Island, with rivers rising. Snow may lie expected on the higher levels, and colder weather follow. The barometer is due to rise everywhere after about ten hours, and probably high.
