The tracks are in excellent order, being if anything on the fast side, s<) that if rain doe*; not fall in the interim fast times should be registered. The Club's secretary, (Mr Hathaway) has been very busy during the week, ar.d with a large staff, Jha s all well in hand. The public have been well catered for in every department and it will lie surprising if any complaints are hoard. There'are eight races on the programme, commencing with the Trial Stakes, in which 2-ycur-olds and upwards are eligible to start. Several candidates have diown recent form. of which Elevated, Golden Sky and Borsil should run well. The locallyowned Otter is given a good chare? by his connections. The Flying Handicap point.; to Tliravc, which has a second at Napier Park to recommend her. Blue Lake and Parewanui may have be reckoned with. The Telephone Hack should re-uit { in a good race, King's Favourite, War Queen and Ladino being three , smart customers, while Merton has a win at Napier to his credit and should be hard to beat. The chief event of tho day, the Masterton Clip, is of more than ort dinary interest, from the fact that a I number of New Zealand Cup c:;r,: : dates will sport silk. Undecided, of course, is first selection, but The Rover, Sinapis, Byron and Ngatimarn may keep the big fellow busy.
