CHURCH UNION.
For some years past there lias been a movement toward Church union in Now Zealand, but it has not yet got boyond the stage of discussion. In Canada, whero a similar movement has been in existence, for some time, matters are much more advanced. The Canadian plan concerns only the Presbyterian, Methodist, and Congregational Churches, and the proposal to weld them into one Church organisation has very nearly taken definite shape. The Methodist and the Congregational Churches, by sweeping majorities, agreed to the scheme, and the Presbyterians, after what seemed like a setback, resulting from imperfect knowledge on the part of the special eommitteo set up to report to the Assembly on the question, gave such a-strong indication" of their acceptance of the project, that Church union seems to be almosti on the verge of being carried into effect. Its accomplishment in Canada should do muoh to stimulate the movement in Australia ,and v New Zealand.
